About the Role
The Training Specialist I is responsible for designing, developing, and facilitating training programs, monitoring training effectiveness, and managing administrative functions for Seneca Gaming Corporation's training programs. This role is crucial for employee development, career growth, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Develop and provide employee orientations and training systems.
- Evaluate employee, supervisor, and manager skills to identify needs.
- Analyze training needs and develop/implement a training plan.
- Collaborate with Department Managers to design and develop training materials and programs.
- Schedule, coordinate, and make arrangements for Casino Operations management assistance.
- Develop and conduct train-the-trainer sessions for managers.
- Organize career development systems and record keeping.
- Coach supervisors/managers to improve interpersonal skills.
- Develop and enhance leadership skills of entry and mid-level management.
- Review achievements and needed changes in goals, objectives, and department metrics.
- Maintain current and accurate HRIS records for employee training completion.
- Assist in marketing internal training programs.
- Generate tracking reports, training evaluations, and attendance records for mandatory trainings.
- Communicate training requirements to team members and management.
- Coordinate appointments, meetings, provide information, and generate correspondence for the Training Unit.
- Create, update, distribute, and maintain the Training Calendar.
- Coordinate and maintain accurate employee data for SGC Learning Management Systems.
- Assist team members and managers with navigating the SGC Learning Management System.
- Update and organize the Training Catalog and associated resources.
- Coordinate amenities, room setup, and paperwork for training sessions.
- Order and prepare materials for trainings.
- Collect and compile evaluation data for training programs.
- Maintain day-to-day operations in the absence of the Training Manager.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality and integrity of all information regarding Tribal and Casino operations.
- Maintain a current understanding of information security policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a professional work environment.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine months of employment.
- Attend all necessary meetings.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the training field.
- Coordinating a training function is required, including developing new training courses and systems.
- Understanding the strategic relationship of training in support of achieving the business mission.
- Experience conducting training needs analysis and evaluating training programs.
- Able to negotiate vendor contracts.
- Able to consult with all levels of the organization.
- Acts as a role model of an effective trainer.
- Proven training experience that demonstrates creativity and latitude.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, developmental, and presentation skills.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Ability to write routine correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
- Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Adequate manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
- Light lifting required.

- Must be able to effectively understand and communicate to candidates and employees.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
- Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment.
- Effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
- Must complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
