About the Role

The Nursing Technician performs duties to assist in the safe treatment and care of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Practices regular hand hygiene and complies with standard and transmission based precautions as applicable.
  • Responds appropriately to the special needs of each group served specific to age, language, gender, culture, religion/spirituality, economic background, education or literacy, developmental or cognitive disabilities, physical and developmental disabilities.
  • Under the direction of a Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse, assists with patient visits to PST re: reception, equipment preparation, vital signs, obtaining actual weights, orientation to surroundings and implementation of safety measures.
  • Performs direct care with attention to personal hygiene, safety, comfort and skin care while anticipating the needs of the patient and family.
  • Performs oxygen equipment preparation, phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG.
  • Assists and/or transports patients in a timely and safe manner.
  • Collects and transports specimens maintaining standards mandated by regulatory agencies.
  • Facilitates patient flow through the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of NA program, BOCES, Military Hospital Corps School or equivalent, or completion of medical/surgical experience within an RN program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Education Level

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of NA program, BOCES, Military Hospital Corps School or equivalent, or completion of medical/surgical experience within an RN program.

Salary/Compensations

  • USD $27.46 - USD $27.46 /Hr.
