About the Role
Square Care Laboratory is seeking a Specimen Processor - Accessioning to perform molecular specimen processing, including receipt, triage, and distribution. This role supports laboratory technical staff by managing supplies, maintaining workspace, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process specimens consistent with specimen requirements for testing, including positive patient identification, appropriate container, and transport requirements.
- Identify and accurately label specimens, distributing them to the appropriate testing area.
- Perform clerical and administrative duties.
- Organize and monitor lab supplies for appropriate inventory levels.
- Communicate specimen non-conformities to technical staff and/or laboratory leadership.
- Clean and maintain work area and all lab equipment and supplies.
- Follow all health and safety regulations when handling laboratory specimens.
- Comply with chemical hygiene and/or laboratory safety procedures.
- Comply with all lab procedures, processes, and methodologies.
- Assist technical laboratory staff and leadership with additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Strong data entry skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
- 2 years’ experience as a lab assistant, specimen processor, or relevant experience in a lab is preferred.
