About the Role
The Program Manager at Young Women's Freedom Center Site is responsible for ensuring that YWFC’s programs consistently meet their goals and objectives. This position provides training and learning opportunities to achieve organizational and programmatic goals, implements programs and activities, and creates safe spaces for youth of color to teach and learn from one another while building community. The role involves developing and maintaining strong ties to YWFC’s youth base, building leadership and organizing skills, and advancing local campaign work through strategic partnerships. The Program Manager ensures adherence to YWFC’s Theory of Change, harm reduction, education as a practice of freedom, and progressive youth development theory. This role oversees all program operations, data and administrative systems, reporting requirements, and supervises program staff.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop relationships with Probation Officers, Judges, the District Attorney, Deputies, and other key personnel overseeing facilities and judicial services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with organizations, service providers, and stakeholders supporting young women in Detention programs.
- Attend key meetings hosted by facilities staff and collaborating agencies for case coordination and advocacy.
- Lead efforts in revising and updating trainings, curriculums, forms, intakes, and program-related documents.
- Oversee and direct assigned programs, ensuring quality, alignment with YWFC Theory of Change, and meeting contractual requirements.
- Ensure the facilitation of weekly healing and connective circles with young women and trans youth post-release.
- Update the 12-week curriculum annually to reflect barriers to reentry, life skills, job skills, healing, political education, leadership development, and self-determination.
- Oversee advocacy efforts and provide training to staff and volunteers working with young women and trans youth.
- Co-manage program budgets and conduct expense control and variance analysis.
- Oversee and implement an annual curriculum development process using a person-centered participatory approach.
- Develop and update annual work plans in partnership with Program Staff and Site Director.
- Work with youth to increase their ability to advocate for themselves and navigate systems and service providers.
- Support the development of local and statewide campaigns by providing research, review, resources, and campaign evaluations.
- Actively participate in building campaigns that center the leadership and power of young people impacted by gender-based violence, incarceration, foster care, and the juvenile justice system.
- Ensure youth are informed of YWFC’s movement, policy, and local campaign work.
- Ensure interns participate in strategy and strategy-related meetings, advance local campaigns, and participate in coalitions and community-based work.
- Participate in YWFC’s movement, policy, and local campaign work, including strategy meetings, advancing local campaigns, representing the organization publicly, and participating in coalitions.

- Maintain and enter data into appropriate data systems for reporting.
- Maintain weekly program notes and collect data for quarterly progress reports.
- Facilitate weekly Mic-Check meetings for holistic support and reporting strategies.
- Oversee all reporting requirements for work plans, ensuring forms are completed and data is updated.
- Provide monthly program summaries to the Site Director, including quantitative and qualitative data.
- Ensure programs are evaluated and updated on an ongoing basis, using feedback for revisions.
- Track participant attendance and engagement, providing support and accountability to youth fellows and interns.
- Ensure program forms, overviews, flyers, curriculums, and other program data are updated and stored appropriately.
- Attend regularly scheduled supervision and planning meetings.
- Facilitate regular program strategy meetings and weekly 1:1 supervision meetings with program staff.
- Build and maintain community relationships to increase YWFC’s mission fulfillment and programmatic success.
- Work with the Executive Team to identify opportunities for increased community visibility and impact.
- Ensure the organization’s mission, vision, and guiding principles guide all work and program development.
- Manage special and additional projects and tasks as directed by supervisor.
- Create ongoing opportunities for leadership development of young women, including learning new tasks and skills.
- Respond to emails, text messages, and other correspondence in a timely manner.
- Participate in YWFC events, staff meetings, trainings, and staff development opportunities.

Salary/Compensations
- $68,000 to $72,000 annually
