About the Role

The Campus Recreation Trainer will assist with the daily operations of the Athletic Training Clinic, providing comprehensive patient care to a diverse population and ensuring effective coverage for club sports and events.

Responsibilities

• Assist with evaluating and treating athletic injuries, consulting with a physician and the Head Athletic Trainer.
• Oversee the operations of the Athletic Training Clinic, ensuring a safe and efficient environment.
• Provide athletic training services to students, club sports participants, intramural participants, alumni members, community members, and faculty/staff.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Conduct injury assessments, rehabilitation, and therapeutic exercises.
• Report injuries, evaluations, and treatments in the electronic medical records program.
• Coordinate and provide trainer coverage for on-campus games and events, ensuring participant safety.
• Utilize emergency action plans for events as needed.
• Establish and maintain relationships with on and off-campus medical facilities.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care.
• Assist in processing insurance claims for patients.
• Capture and maintain medical and treatment records within the clinic.
• Exhibit behavior that supports the university's mission, vision, and values.
• Communicate and employ interpersonal actions that model high standards of professional, responsible, accountable, and ethical conduct.
• Demonstrate a commitment to outstanding customer service.

Requirements

• Typically a Bachelors degree or equivalent.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• NATA, CPR, and First Aid Certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge in physical therapy techniques.
• Demonstrated knowledge in medical terminology as it relates to follow-up care.
• Demonstrated knowledge in human physiology and anatomy as it relates to athletic performance.
• Demonstrated knowledge of simple card filing systems.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in athletic training or a clinical setting.
• Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification.
• CPR/First Aid/AED, Basic Life Support or Certified Professional Rescuer Certification.
• National Athletic Trainers Association Member in good standing preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to lift 50lbs with appropriate accommodation.
