About the Role

The primary role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve workforce productivity and work quality through the prevention of potential delays and obstacles by properly planning and coordinating parts, machine time, and labor. This role serves as the primary liaison between the operations and maintenance organizations for planned work, both during runtime and scheduled downtime, and ensures appropriate data is maintained for analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal contact between the Maintenance department and operations teams.
  • Assure work requests are needed and prioritized based on business risk.
  • Ensure safety needs are a top priority in work planning.
  • Recommend equipment for preventive maintenance programs.
  • Lead weekly meetings with Operations and Maintenance to discuss short-term and long-term maintenance needs.
  • Receive and screen approved work requests for clarity, discussing details with the requestor.
  • Examine requests and determine the best method for accomplishing the work, consulting with relevant parties as needed.
  • Obtain necessary blueprints, drawings, and manuals, creating additional sketches or diagrams if required.
  • Arrange safety permits and other necessary arrangements as part of a work package.
  • Estimate jobs, including sequence of steps, number of tradespersons, and labor hours per step.
  • Identify and obtain necessary materials and critical items, entering material needs on the work order.
  • Verify the availability of parts, materials, and special tools before scheduling.
  • Coordinate the requisition of all predetermined parts, materials, and special tools, preparing complete kits.
  • Assemble work package documentation and deliver it to area maintenance supervisors.
  • Maintain department KPIs, create action plans, and develop processes for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain backlog files of work orders awaiting planning and/or scheduling.
  • Ensure completed schedules and work orders are returned and reviewed promptly.
  • Monitor work order progress, compliance, and schedule, evaluating performance metrics and developing action plans.
  • Provide all documents for reporting and closeout.
  • Develop a file of standard job plans for regularly recurring repair jobs.
  • Review actual labor and material expended versus estimates with Maintenance Supervisors, providing variance reports.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of maintenance planning and scheduling preferred.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment with multiple crafts (mechanical, electrical, etc.) required.
  • Maintenance scheduling, planning, and use of SAP CMMS or ERP required.
  • Comprehensive experience in vibration data collection and analysis, lubrication and oil analysis, and balancing, and alignment.
  • Adequate trade knowledge to estimate labor hours, materials, and visualize job execution.
  • Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good administrative, mathematical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Orientation and commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to communicate/teach reliability best practices, condition monitoring, precision methods.
  • Intermediate or better skills in Microsoft Office.

Salary/Compensations

  • $68,000 to $118,000
