About the Role

Join our Surgical Services team as a Pre/Post/PACU Registered Nurse, providing exceptional care to patients before and after surgical and procedural interventions. Assess, monitor, educate, and support patients throughout their surgical experience while collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, compassionate, high-quality care. This position offers the opportunity to develop advanced skills in perioperative nursing, including cardiac monitoring, anesthesia recovery, and management of patients requiring specialized post-procedure care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for pre-operative and post-anesthesia patients.
  • Monitor patients throughout recovery, recognizing and responding to changes in condition.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions safely and in accordance with established standards.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery, discharge instructions, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Promote patient safety by adhering to infection prevention, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain required clinical competencies.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for procedures while anticipating procedural and recovery needs.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care that supports a healing environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current New York State RN license (or NYS Limited Permit)
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications obtained through the RQI system during orientation
  • Basic Coronary Care certification within 6 months of hire
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • One year of Critical Care experience (Preferred)
  • Experience with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office (Preferred)
  • CAPA or CPAN certification within two years (Preferred)

Work Type

  • Four 9-hour shifts per week
  • Occasional weekday call rotation
  • One full weekend of call every 6–7 weeks
  • One weekly flex shift

Experience Level

  • One year of Critical Care experience (Preferred)

Education Level

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) (Preferred)
