About the Role
The Human Resources/Payroll Manager develops, implements, and administers all HR policies and procedures. This position provides leadership, planning, and oversight of all HR programs, ensuring they support the company’s strategic objectives. The role partners closely with leadership, makes staffing recommendations, and executes accordingly.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional human resource support in employment, payroll, safety, employee relations, benefits, compensation, unemployment, worker’s compensation, and training.
- Maintain HR documentation and records, including employee personnel files, and process onboarding and off-boarding paperwork.
- Oversee the Company’s payroll process and procedures and manage the payroll coordinator.
- Oversee the Company’s talent acquisition strategy and consult with management on recruiting channels.
- Provide staffing support to all departments for recruiting qualified candidates and coordinate pre-employment testing.
- Develop and implement human resource policies, update the Company Employee Handbook, and support HR initiatives across all locations.
- Maintain ownership of HR processes and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) with internal controls.
- Identify and handle employee relations issues quickly and decisively.
- Coach, counsel, and guide employees and managers through employee-related issues.
- Develop and/or implement management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
- Manage all employee leaves, worker’s compensation claims, and unemployment claims.
- Administer employee benefits program, including open enrollment.
- Maintain an effective performance management program.
- Stay informed on employee relations laws and policies to ensure compliance.
- Work with the leadership team to promote corporate values and culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in human resource management, Business Administration or related field required.
- Ten (10) years of experience in Human Resources with at least five (5) plus years at the management level.
- Current knowledge of State and Federal employment law, including practical application and interpretation.
- Experience as a key member of a leadership team.
- Valid New York State Driver License.
