About the Role

Beveridge & Diamond (B&D) seeks a Business Development Manager to lead business development efforts for its Texas, San Francisco, and Seattle offices, as well as key firmwide practice and industry groups. This role requires strategic thinking, initiative, strong writing skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with lawyers across the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead marketing contact for Austin, San Francisco, and Seattle offices, developing and advancing business development plans and goals.
  • Develop and advance office business development plans with managing principals and support individual lawyer plans.
  • Track office marketing budgets.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with attorneys focused on business development and marketing initiatives.
  • Oversee key association engagement for offices and affiliated lawyers.
  • Oversee office-initiated events with support from the Events Coordinator.
  • Work with leaders of assigned practice and industry groups to develop, track, and advance group business development plans and goals.
  • Lead RFP responses and pitch meeting preparation, and track outcomes.
  • Attend practice and industry group meetings to provide strategic guidance and make connections.
  • Provide strategic guidance on group initiatives, including events, sponsorships, new service offerings, and rankings.
  • Collaborate with other Marketing Department members on execution of group initiatives.
  • Work with the Communications team to produce and maintain group promotional materials.
  • Oversee key association engagement and sponsorship deliverables.
  • Coordinate market research, trendspotting, and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.
  • Support regional business development initiatives.
  • Provide lawyer coaching.
  • Assist with projects related to the implementation of the firm’s Strategic Plan.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of law firm business development experience.
  • Knowledge of the Texas legal market.
  • Familiarity with environmental law or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience leading RFP responses.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Initiative, responsiveness, follow-through, and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to form effective working relationships with lawyers and staff firmwide.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • College degree or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the West Coast legal market (Preferred).
  • Experience with InterAction (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with experience management platforms (Preferred).
