About the Role

As a Security Officer Residential Shelter in Jamaica, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Residential Shelters. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate clearly, and respond professionally to concerns.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
Monitor access points, verify visitor authorization in accordance with site procedures, and document entries, exits, and unusual activity.
Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate site personnel and/or emergency services as directed.
Conduct regular and random patrols of interior common areas, exterior grounds, entrances, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
Prepare clear, accurate incident reports and daily activity logs, and communicate observations to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
