About the Role

The B-shift Coatings Associate supports the coating operation by applying thin films onto glass substrates using vacuum coating chambers and other Semrock technology. This role requires a self-directed individual who collaborates with a diverse team to meet uptime, changeover, and quality goals.

Responsibilities

• Wash, inspect and prepare glass substrates for ion beam and magnetron sputtering coater deposition.
• Load and unload coaters.
• Measure coated parts for uniformity management using Semrock equipment, processes and applications.
• Sandblast and clean aluminum parts to remove coating film for vacuum chamber reuse.
• Communicate issues and concerns to Team Leader and Manager and collaborate on solutions.
• Model the IDEX values of trust, teams and excellence.
• Complete housekeeping and organizational tasks associated with 5S principles.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• More than 2 years of experience working in an optical coating or manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other computer applications is a plus.
• Good written and verbal communications.
• Ability to collaborate with others to resolve technical issues.
• Ability to achieve proficiency in FPS, Diskmapper, Scheduler and Uniformity Manager is a plus.
• Must meet ITAR/EAR requirements, including US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident status.
