About the Role
The Leidos Security and Engineering Programs (SEP) is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Center for Information Systems Security (CISS) program. This role requires the ability to work flexible hours and involves as-needed travel.
Responsibilities
- Performs the integration of new COTS/GOTS systems into the production environment, ensuring mission readiness.
- Manages change controls for documentation within an IT Service Management Tool (ITSM) and Configuration Management database (CMDB), performing corrective action on discrepancies.
- Develops technical solutions and resolves complex user, computer, server, network, appliance, and application issues, documenting them in a knowledge database and ticketing system.
- Reviews data from a DoD Network Monitoring System, audits systems for program requirement compliance, and assesses and remediates risks and incidents.
- Analyzes issues, makes remediation recommendations to management, and carries out remediation processes for program-specific equipment.
- Creates technical documentation (SOP’s, KBA’s, etc.) to assist junior staff members.
Requirements
- BS degree and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience. A High School diploma with an additional 2 years’ relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Interim Top-Secret clearance required, with the ability to obtain a Final Top Secret.
- Experienced with Windows Server administration tools: WSUS, Group Policy, Active Directory, RDP, DNS, DHCP.
- Mid-to-High Level RHEL troubleshooting.
- Low-to-Mid Level Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022/2025 troubleshooting.
- GOTS/COTS application, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Industrial computer and Dell systems installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Tier 3 Systems Administrator support.
- Proactive leader and team player with strong communication, management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to thrive in environments that constantly embrace new technology.
- AWS virtualization, networking configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Docker configuration and troubleshooting.
- Database installation, configuration, and troubleshooting (Postgre, MariaDB, etc.).
- Lifecycle management experience (PC Imaging & Disposition).
- Knowledge of Network Monitoring tool management such as OpManager, Solarwinds, PRTG.
- ServiceNow On-Premise application and database server experience.
- Experience with virtualization.
- Infrastructure equipment troubleshooting such as Tripplite or Eaton UPS’, Fiber and/or Ethernet installation/termination, and electronic testing and metering equipment.
- Ticket tracking system experience (i.e. Remedy, ServiceNOW, SharePoint).
- Prior experience in a Network Operations Center environment or Tier 3 Helpdesk.
- Basic Juniper and Palo Alto Tier 1 troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with CMD/Terminal/PowerShell/other CLI.
