About the Role
RBI is seeking a collaborative and hands-on People Business Partner to support restaurant operations by serving as a trusted advisor to leaders across the business. This role partners with Operations and Legal teams to manage employee relations, provide performance management guidance, support recruiting, ensure HR compliance, and drive training and succession planning.
Responsibilities
- Conducts weekly 1:1 meetings with Restaurant Company Operations Leadership.
- Participates in weekly District Manager and RGM meetings.
- Manages the investigation process and assists leadership and inside counsel in resolving complex employee relations issues.
- Partners across HR functions to deliver integrated solutions to management and employees.
- Prepares employee communications regarding compensation, benefits, and company HR policies.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to managers, including coaching and career development.
- Serves as a consultant to management on HR-related issues, assessing HR needs such as recruitment and talent management.
- Manages and resolves basic employee relations issues.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements for employee management, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Partners with the Legal department as needed.
- Provides guidance and input on business unit restructure and succession planning.
- Participates in the evaluation and monitoring of training programs.
- Follows up with restaurant teams to ensure training objectives are met.
- Partners with other HR leaders to improve key HR programs.
- Participates in cross-functional teams supporting strategic initiatives.
- Leads and organizes hiring events to attract and recruit restaurant talent.
- Supports restaurant teams with Applicant Tracking System usage and assists with New Hire Orientations.
- Validates employee achievement and bonus payout calculations.
- Assesses risk and provides proactive training/mitigation through HR audits.
- Reports on market KPIs, including staffing, turnover, and engagement, and provides recommendations to market leadership.
- Partners with operations to lead succession planning for General Managers and District Managers.
- Assists team members with HR-related questions and concerns, including payroll, benefits, compensation, LOA, and team member issues.
- Partners with District Managers to ensure 100% legal compliance, including child labor, new hire, worker’s compensation, HR posters, and unemployment claims.
- Regularly visits restaurants to coach, develop, and audit HR systems and processes.
- Manages and develops the Staffing Coordinator, including regular check-ins and restaurant visits to assist with hiring events and training.
Requirements
- 5+ years of HR generalist experience required, including training, recruiting, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and HRIS administration.
- Flexible style and willingness to 'roll up your sleeves and get it done'.
- Good knowledge and experience in organization effectiveness, team dynamics, leadership development, management/leadership effectiveness, and facilitation.
- Excellent team-building and influencing skills, communications, and unquestioned integrity.
- Experience to effectively address sensitive HR issues.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and flexible environment while working independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven experience of organization and business understanding by partnering with the business to understand business priorities, routines, and practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while taking full ownership for assigned projects.
- Knowledge of human resources, including employee relations issues, plans related to enhancing diversity, performance management policies, and basic federal and state employment laws.
- Ability to travel domestically 50%, primarily in market but potential for travel to corporate offices.
- Ability to manage conflicts, confrontations, and disagreements in a positive manner.
- Experience in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations.
- Payroll troubleshooting experience.
- 2 to 4 years previous experience in the Quick Service Industry is a plus but not required.
