About the Role

As a Prevention Specialist at the Center for Family Life and Recovery (CFLR), you will be on the frontlines of a movement to promote mental wellness, build resilience, and prevent substance misuse in schools and communities across the Mohawk Valley. This role is an opportunity to inspire students, engage families, collaborate with educators, and represent an organization that leads with heart and purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, evidence-based programs to K–12 students, including interactive lessons, workshops, assemblies, and conversations.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with school leaders, teachers, families, and students.
  • Act as a visible advocate for prevention by attending community events, coalitions, and local partnerships.
  • Assist in designing, supporting, and reporting on strategic initiatives for long-lasting impact.
  • Represent CFLR as a community leader in promoting mental health, youth voice, and recovery-friendly values.
  • Share stories, create content, and promote prevention through social media, newsletters, and outreach campaigns.
  • Provide support and connect students and families to resources when needed.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s in education, psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth programming, education, outreach, or prevention.
  • Experience in public speaking, classroom engagement, or group facilitation.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40 miles from Utica, NY.
  • Possession of a valid NYS driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated passion for service, strategic thinking, and leadership potential.
