About the Role

The Inventory Planning & Analysis Manager oversees all aspects of inventory planning, control, and analysis, optimizing inventory availability while balancing cost, demand, and operational efficiency. This role owns the Material Requirements Planning (MRP), translates demand forecasts into purchasing requirements, and monitors inventory health through key performance metrics. The position reports to the CFO and works cross-functionally with Purchasing, Production, Sales, and Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the MRP system, ensuring data integrity across bills of materials (BOMs), lead times, safety stock levels, and reorder points.
  • Translate sales forecasts and production schedules into detailed material and finished goods requirements.
  • Quantify future purchasing needs by demand period and communicate requirements to Purchasing.
  • Identify and resolve material shortages, excess positions, or supply constraints.
  • Analyze inventory performance metrics, including inventory turns, days of inventory on hand, aging stock and obsolescence risk.
  • Identify slow-moving, aging, or obsolete stock and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards/reports to track inventory KPIs and present findings to the CFO and senior leadership.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including inventory valuation, reserve calculations, and variance analysis.
  • Reconcile physical inventory counts/cycle counts against system records and investigate discrepancies.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain to align material availability with manufacturing schedules.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing/Procurement on supplier lead times, minimum order quantities, and cost implications.
  • Support inventory-related input for budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and working capital analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement of inventory planning processes, systems, and tools.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements related to lot tracking and expiration dating.
  • Support internal and external audits related to inventory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in inventory planning, procurement, materials planning, or supply chain operations, preferably within the cosmetics, beauty, personal care, or related consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with MRP/ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and inventory management principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Understanding of production workflows, inventory transactions, goods receipt processes, and inventory controls.
  • Financial acumen with the ability to understand the cost and operational impact of inventory decisions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
