About the Role
This position is responsible for providing clinical counseling services in chemical dependency and mental health, offering holistic and comprehensive interventions, resources, and referrals, primarily within the community. The role reports directly to the Program Manager.
Responsibilities
- Collects and analyzes assessment data including substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders.
- Completes intake process and psychosocial assessments, determining appropriate treatment recommendations and level of care.
- Develops individualized treatment plans based on participant needs, using participant-centered language and measurable objectives.
- Provides individual and group counseling based on treatment plans and participant needs.
- Conducts evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Matrix Model, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
- Identifies participants with urgent mental health conditions and makes appropriate referrals.
- Maintains awareness of trauma indicators and fosters a safe and trusting professional relationship.
- Provides grief and crisis intervention services.
- Addresses social needs of participants and utilizes referral sources for specialized care.
- Encourages family involvement when appropriate.
- Conducts discharge planning with clients.
- Acts as a liaison with networking and referring agencies.
- Recognizes, responds to, and defuses volatile situations, seeking assistance when necessary.
- Documents counseling sessions, assessments, interventions, and recommendations, including billing information, ensuring no negative audit reviews.
Requirements
- BS/BA in a human services field and CASAC with 2 years' experience working with applicable populations with substance abuse/co-occurring disorders.
- Associates Degree and CASAC-T with 4 years applicable experience.
- Must have computer skills.
