About the Role

Ensure the safety and security of residents, staff, and physical assets at Chapel Oaks. Assist in maintaining the community center and perform minor emergency maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Relieve the Concierge and become knowledgeable about reception and system operations.
  • Report for duty with a neat, professional appearance and in proper uniform.
  • Observe and promptly report safety hazards or problems.
  • Act within the laws, codes, rules, and regulations of New York State and other governing agencies.
  • Coordinate emergency responses.
  • Learn the operation of pertinent equipment such as CCTV cameras, ID systems, alarm panels, fire equipment, and elevator operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of facility layout.
  • Perform duties such as vacuuming rugs, moving furniture, sweeping, and mopping.
  • Sweep and mop floors, clean lavatory fixtures, and supply paper goods in the Community Center.
  • Assist in performing minor maintenance.
  • Assist with set-ups for functions.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
  • Properly use all equipment, maintain it, and report any malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
  • Fill out all required reports and forms for each tour of duty.
  • Inform the Director or Operations Manager of any pertinent events, information, and/or actions.
  • Assist with reports, training, surveys, inspections, and investigations.
  • Attend to resident needs as per request.
  • Ensure personal safety, monitor the work environment, and make necessary improvements while ensuring the safety of others.
  • Adhere to regulations set by OSHA, DOH, and facility regulations, including fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, and infection control.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the organization, residents, participants, family, and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six months of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • May be exposed to indoor temperature fluctuations.
  • May be exposed to potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
  • May be exposed to the Hepatitis B Virus.
