About the Role

The Osborne Association seeks a temporary full-time Maintenance Worker to perform custodial duties and basic maintenance and repair to ensure the facility is clean and safe. This role is expected to last up to six months.

Responsibilities

  • Perform custodial duties to ensure the facility is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Provide basic maintenance and repair as necessary.
  • Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients.
  • Clean all elements of the facility including floors, walls, kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas.
  • Handle garbage collection and removal.
  • Thoroughly clean residential units and associated elements such as stoves, refrigerators, and perform painting and plastering to prepare them for incoming clients.
  • Perform a variety of general maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and batteries in smoke and carbon dioxide detectors.
  • Move, load, unload, and transport furniture, equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Assemble and install furniture and equipment.
  • Perform a variety of light construction duties such as drywall installation and patching, painting, light bulb and fixture installation, drain and sewer line stoppages, cabinet installation and repair, vinyl and ceramic tile installation and repair, and window air conditioner installation and maintenance.
  • Operate basic building systems including boilers and heating systems, fire prevention and alarm systems.
  • Attend assigned training.
  • Collaborate with co-workers through in-person attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Valid New York State driver’s license with no suspensions and fewer than 3 points.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs frequently on a daily basis.
  • Ability to travel locally.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to make good judgment and quickly make decisions and problem solve.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

  • Repetitive motions of drilling, sawing, screwing, ratcheting, etc.

Salary/Compensations

  • $21.98 - $23.08 per hour
