About the Role

RSM is seeking an Assurance Manager to join their assurance Business Services practice. This role offers exposure to various industries, including marketing and advertising, environmental and facilities, and workforce solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, high-quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Coordinate the auditing of all required financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables.
  • Assess risk and design/communicate audit procedures to engagement teams.
  • Understand and utilize RSM’s Audit Methodology.
  • Manage multiple engagement teams and prepare end-of-engagement evaluations for staff.
  • Understand skillsets and capabilities of Senior Associates and Supervisors, monitor and review their work product, and provide coaching.
  • Supervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors on engagement teams, facilitating fieldwork and monitoring productivity and adherence to schedules.
  • Maintain client contact throughout the year to understand business developments and assess impact on audits.
  • Develop others within the Firm through training, career advising, or other initiatives.
  • Subscribe to and share relevant industry publication information with clients.
  • Anticipate and address client concerns, and escalate issues as they arise.
  • Understand RSM’s lines of businesses and service offerings, and make introductions to other firm professionals where applicable.
  • Develop a strategy to utilize external relationships with Centers of Influence for business growth.
  • Manage project profitability.
  • Identify and communicate accounting and auditing matters to Senior Managers and Partners.
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments affecting GAAP and the Firm’s standards and policies.
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the year, depending on clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline from an accredited University.
  • Active CPA (or equivalent certification) required.
  • 5+ years of recent assurance experience within a public accounting environment with substantial exposure to external audit engagements.
  • Strong technical proficiency with financial reporting, audit procedures, and auditing standards, including GAAP, CASs or other relevant regulatory requirements, including IFRS.
  • Proven experience leading and managing audit engagements and teams, including planning, executing, and completing audits while overseeing junior and senior audit staff.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, balance competing responsibilities, meet deadlines, and maintain quality.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with firm personnel and clients, manage client relationships, respond to client needs, and address issues while building trust.
  • Applies sound business judgment, risk awareness, and ethical integrity to ensure audit quality, compliance, and independence, and to provide guidance to team members.
  • Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and at client sites.
  • Ability to work extended and/or non-standard hours during peak periods.
  • Ability to maintain consistent onsite presence during core business hours, report regularly to a firm office, and travel to client sites as required.
