About the Role

Own product value and the backlog to maximize outcomes. Partner with PM (plan/gates) and SM (process) so the team can deliver increments in sprints. Affects departmental goals, client relationships, or operational performance. Defines business strategy and translates into actionable plans across functions. Makes independent decisions with functional or project-level impact; escalates only major issues. Oversees daily work of a small team; assigns tasks and monitors results. Influences stakeholders through well-structured communication. Builds strong relationships across departments and represents the team externally. Solves complex problems requiring conceptual thinking and synthesis of varied information.

Responsibilities

  • Define product vision, outcomes, and success metrics; align with stakeholders.
  • Author/ prioritize epics and stories; ensure Definition of Ready/Done; maintain roadmap and release goals.
  • Collaborate with SM and team during Planning/Review/Refinement; accept completed stories.
  • Provide value rationale and readiness evidence at gate reviews; PM owns the gate process.
  • Develop and execute the product strategy for Money Mart's fee-based product portfolio, including cheque cashing, money transfers, and foreign exchange.
  • Balance short-term commercial performance with long-term strategic transformation initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability through pricing optimization, product enhancements, customer journey improvements, operational efficiencies, and new distribution channels.
  • Partner closely with Marketing to improve customer acquisition, conversion, retention, and lifetime value through optimized campaigns, offers, messaging, and customer experiences.
  • Analyze customer behaviour, product performance, market trends, and competitive activity to uncover actionable insights and recommend data-driven improvements.
  • Evaluate and prioritize new product features, strategic partnerships, vendor relationships, and fintech capabilities that strengthen the customer value proposition and accelerate growth.
  • Lead the development of business cases, financial models, and strategic recommendations to support investment decisions and new product initiatives.
  • Define product requirements and collaborate with Technology, Digital, Operations, and Retail teams to deliver product enhancements and new capabilities.
  • Develop the long-term roadmap for modernizing the fee-based product portfolio, including opportunities to digitize traditionally retail-based services and create seamless omnichannel customer experiences.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, customer feedback, and financial results to identify opportunities for growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational improvements.
  • Present strategic recommendations, product performance updates, and investment proposals to senior leadership.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, customer trends, payments innovation, and the competitive landscape to ensure Money Mart remains competitive in a rapidly evolving financial services market.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years in product/BA/solution roles; strong discovery, prioritization, stakeholder management; Agile PO experience (must-have).
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience in Agile environments.
  • Skilled communicator with excellent presentation and leadership abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a customer-first mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in parallel.
  • Proficiency in product management tools such as Jira, Trello, Smartsheet, MS Project, or GanttPRO.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to align and work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven success managing backlogs, leading Agile ceremonies, and delivering customer-facing products.
