About the Role
UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health is offering 13-week travel contracts for RNs at Geneva General Hospital. This role involves providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating care delivery. The RN will also be responsible for patient and family education to support health and healing beyond hospitalization.
Responsibilities
- Applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families.
- Assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patients' episode.
- Develops specialized skills to care for critically ill unstable patients.
- Develops a strong working knowledge of life support machines, cardiac monitoring systems and other life-preserving medical equipment and nursing interventions essential for a critical care nurse.
- Accountable for patient family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.
- Promotes comfort and provides emotional support in a healing environment.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS Basic Coronary Care certifications.
- 1-year acute care experience required.
- Moderate Sedation Competency.
- Analytical skills to assess, prepare, implement and evaluate the outcomes of the plan of care for patients / families.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to deal with people in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Computer literacy.
