About the Role
As a strategic member of a highly collaborative organization, the sales account manager will identify new business opportunities, manage assigned accounts, and support sales growth activities. The prospective customers may be in an assigned geographic area, assigned by individual account, by product, or vendor.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients by phone, email, and face-to-face to ensure their needs are understood and addressed.
- Build strong client relationships to maintain existing business and acquire new customers.
- Collaborate with various internal departments to ensure they fulfill all customer requests.
- Resolve complaints and track all processes pertaining to the client.
- Act as the client representative to ensure their demands are met, focusing on improving the customer experience.
- Collect and analyze data concerning consumer behavior to understand changing needs.
- React to customer complaints and bring them to resolution in a timely manner.
- Obtain expertise in equipment or supplies being sold, including features, applications, and benefits.
- Maintain an awareness of the industry and the competition.
- Identify and reach the decision-maker prior to making a sales call.
- Properly prepare for each sales call.
- Maintain appropriate activity at each level of the sales cycle to keep the pipeline flowing.
- Record sales call activity and maintain a database of contacts.
- Develop and maintain a prospective sales list.
- Complete monthly forecasts and submit them to management on a timely basis.
- Prepare well-organized, detailed proposals utilizing available corporate support.
- Complete sales reports and submit them to management on a timely basis.
- Ensure smooth delivery and installation of equipment within the appropriate timeframe.
- Provide customer training on equipment after installation.
- Maintain positive relations at all levels throughout the organization, both within the Sales Division and interdepartmentally.
- Communicate on a timely basis with WBS employees regarding the status of sales leads presented.
- Act as a product and industry trainer for new or inexperienced team members on a periodic basis.
Requirements
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
- 2+ years of proven sales experience.
- Satisfactory problem-solving skills to help resolve customer complaints or needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate product ideas to clients.
- Up-to-date understanding of the industry’s consumer behavior.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills for dealing with different types of customers and clients.
- Exceptional analytical skills for interpreting client data.
- Time management and multitasking skills to handle multiple tasks and clients at once.
- Advanced negotiation skills to close contracts.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to travel to customer sites for meetings and site visits.
- Able to properly lift 50 pounds or less frequently, 100 pounds or less occasionally.
- Able to move 50 pounds or less frequently, 100 pounds or less occasionally.
- Able to push/pull objects with moderate effort frequently, maximum effort occasionally.
- Able to sit and/or stand 2 hours continuously, up to 8 hours per day.
- Able to remain on feet for 2 hours continuously.
- Must be able to manipulate small objects with close eye-hand and arm-hand coordination for the entire shift.
- Able to perform motor skills such as grasping, finger manipulation, pinching, bending, reaching out, twisting, turning, reaching up, wrist turning/torqueing for 2 hours continuously.
- Able to effectively communicate with customer base, both orally and in writing.
- Able to see objects closely, discriminate colors, perceive depth continuously.
- Able to understand, relate to, and apply concepts on a continuous basis.
- Able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over long periods of time continuously.
