About the Role

We are seeking a Senior / Staff Detection & Response Engineer to design and own threat detection and response across our environment. This hands-on role involves building detection and response capabilities from the ground up, covering telemetry, detections, playbooks, and on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the detection and telemetry pipeline, including logging coverage, the detection stack, and associated data.
• Write high-signal detections mapped to critical threats, focusing on identity, access, cloud control plane, and data exfiltration.
• Build and manage incident response processes, including playbooks, on-call duties, live response, and post-incident reviews.
• Collaborate with security and platform engineering teams to address telemetry gaps and instrument visibility.
• Establish standards for detection-as-code and implement a metrics-driven approach to response.
• Develop detections for AI-specific abuse, threats, and emerging attack patterns.
• Utilize AI to enhance personal productivity and focus on critical tasks.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in detection and response, including building detection capabilities and setting strategic direction.
• Strong expertise in AWS-native detection tools (CloudTrail, GuardDuty, VPC/flow logs, etc.).
• A detection-as-code, engineering-first mindset.
• Ability to remain calm, structured, and decisive during live incidents.
• Interest in detecting emerging AI/ML abuse and threat patterns.
• Experience with consumer products at scale (nice to have).
• Experience as an early or founding detection hire (nice to have).
• Exposure to AI/ML abuse or platform-abuse signals (nice to have).
• Must be eligible to work in the US.
• Must work onsite at one of our three offices.
