About the Role
As a Security Officer Transitional Shelter in Jamaica, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in transitional shelters. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will provide exceptional customer service and respond professionally to concerns.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
- Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site contacts and/or emergency services as directed.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of residential common areas, entrances, exits, grounds, and perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
- Monitor access points, observe visitor activity, and support established entry, sign-in, and visitor management procedures.
- Document incidents, patrol observations, and security-related concerns accurately and communicate relevant information to site leadership in accordance with established procedures.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
