About the Role

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for greeting patients and visitors, ensuring excellent customer service, and accurately obtaining demographic and insurance information for proper reimbursement. They also handle financial communication with patients professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Verify patient information and ensure completion and signing of appropriate paperwork.
  • Obtain copies of insurance cards and driver's licenses.
  • Enter and update patient demographic and insurance information in the computer system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Compile and maintain all forms and documents in the patient's medical record.
  • Maintain the appointment scheduling system, including scheduling, coordinating, and adjusting appointments.
  • Consistently follow the "No-Show" procedure.
  • Complete appointment reminder calls.
  • Answer telephone promptly, screen calls, take messages, or route/transfer calls.
  • Distribute information to nursing and medical support staff efficiently, accurately, and courteously.
  • Collect patient co-pays and outstanding account balances.
  • Prepare office batches and balance patient payments at the end of each workday.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff.
  • Communicate with insurance companies for necessary information regarding referrals.
  • Assist patients with scheduling specialist appointments and/or testing.
  • Check out patients, provide visit-specific information, and schedule future appointments.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly front desk and waiting area.
  • Enter patient clinical information in the EMR as related to assigned tasks.
  • Participate fully as a member of the Patient Centered Medical Home Team.
  • Perform professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Previous Related Experience.
