About the Role

The Village of Glendale Crossing has an exciting opportunity for a PAL Coordinator to join their Retirement team. This role involves supporting and embracing our resident-centered social culture and delivering the highest quality of care. You will work as a key member of the Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ needs and advocate for their active participation in decisions about their physical care.

Responsibilities

Design and implement innovative cognitive and physical exercise programs for residents, both individuals and in groups
Collaborate with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to ensure resident goals are met
Complete resident transfer assessments
Collaborate with external partners in order to provide exceptional service to our residents
Provide leadership and supervision of Kinesiology Co-Op placements, Students and Volunteers who assist with the PAL program
Facilitate education sessions such as lift & transfer, body mechanics, active living
Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
Understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the role

Requirements

Have a Degree in Kinesiology with a focus on psychomotor behavior and exercise rehabilitation
Registration with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario
Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and best practices
Experience and/or desire to provide educational sessions/seminars
Demonstrated experience working with seniors and/or persons with cognitive or physical impairments
Experience working in the retirement and long-term care sector (e.g.. School placement)
