About the Role

Finger Lakes Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse to provide exceptional perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced surgical environment. As an OR RN, you'll work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout the perioperative continuum, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.
  • Assess patients' physical and psychosocial needs and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Prepare the operating room, equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team while maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
  • Monitor patient status during procedures and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and post-operative expectations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Adhere to infection prevention practices, patient safety initiatives, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Participate in continuing education, departmental training, and professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse license.
  • One year of acute care nursing experience.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (obtained through the RQI system during clinical orientation).
  • Coronary Care certification within six months of hire.
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • One year of critical care and/or operating room experience.
  • Scrub nurse experience.
  • Knowledge of AORN standards.
  • CNOR certification (or willingness to obtain within two years).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
