About the Role

As an integral member of the Cancer Rehab and Survivorship Program (CRS) and a Regulated Health Professional, this Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the delivery of clinical programming and education related to rehabilitation from treatment for cancer. Primary involvement will be completing comprehensive assessments of new patients and providing follow up appointments based on patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Completing comprehensive assessments of new patients
• Providing follow up appointments based on patient needs
• Using health coaching skills to improve adherence to patient goals
• Facilitating virtual lymphedema classes
• Monitoring, stocking, and ordering of lymphedema supplies
• Discharge planning for patients upon program completion
• Liaising with community partners and updating community CDT and ADP lists
• Triaging referrals
• Completing documentation in a timely manner
• Quality assurance, administrative, and program related marketing activities
• Support with clinical research activities
• Teaching of learners/observers
• Liaising with members of the interdisciplinary team
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Successful completion of a Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy (MScOT)
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
• Previous experience in an acute care Hospital environment, preferred
• Minimal One (1) year related experience
• Experience working with patients with lymphedema
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Complies with the legislation outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act, (1991)
• Complies with the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
• Demonstrates competence with departmental and hospital safety, emergency and infection control procedures
• Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and to function in an independent, self-directed manner
• Computer proficiency
• Current UHN employees must have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance in accordance with UHN's attendance management program, to be eligible for consideration.

Skills

• Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) Training preferred
• Membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists preferred
