About the Role
We are seeking a warm and loving individual to join our team, dedicated to our mission of Making Every Moment Matter. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to resident safety and high-quality care, reporting to the Food Services Manager or Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Participate in departmental and town hall meetings
- Receive verbal and written endorsements regarding changes in resident status
- Ensure open communication between staff and team members
- Encourage participation in the Home’s committees and teams
- Report observations regarding resident care, food preferences, and intake to management
- Mentor new staff and students
- Support and promote a team approach
- Deliver ongoing customer service to staff, residents, families, and the public
- Ensure optimal quality of life through individualized resident care
- Prepare meals according to standardized recipe guides
- Participate in the development and rollout of menu cycles
- Report faulty equipment and ensure removal from the unit
- Complete shift documentation including temperature logs, checklists, and audits
- Follow Infection Prevention and Control and Safe Food Handling procedures
- Understand and improve publicly reported quality indicators
- Utilize equipment and supplies within budgetary constraints
- Prepare high-quality, nutritious meals meeting Ministry of Long-Term Care requirements
- Ensure meals contribute to a pleasurable dining experience
- Follow established cleaning procedures
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Assist in stock management and reordering
- Maintain inventory using the First in First Out process
- Work collaboratively with Food Services workers and other departments
- Complete all required annual education
Requirements
- Chef Training or culinary management diploma or certificate (preferred)
- Certificate of qualification in the trade of Cook or Institutional Cook (preferred)
- Appropriate skills, knowledge, and experience in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality cooking
- Food Handlers Certification
- Clear vulnerable sector screening within the last 6 months
- Recent TB test results within the last 6 months or Chest X-ray within the last 1 year
- Two supervisory references
- Proof of all required vaccines
