About the Role

New York Institute of Technology is seeking a professional to serve as a main point of contact for payroll and troubleshoot payroll-related issues, ensuring excellent customer service to employees.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a main point of contact for payroll and troubleshoot payroll-related issues impacting employees.
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll in Workday Payroll system.
  • Assist with the semi-monthly Vancouver, Canada payroll submission to ADP.
  • Perform data entry tasks related to payroll, absences and benefits adjustments.
  • Enter and maintain On-Demand payroll records upon Management approval.
  • Reconcile union dues deductions to records maintained by Accounting Dept. and various union liaisons.
  • Monitor employment and pay compliance criteria for Federal College Work Study and other student employees.
  • Provide ad hoc payroll reporting and other documentation to Finance, HR, and other authorized parties.
  • Communicate with and report to State, local and 3rd party agencies as needed.
  • Perform additional responsibilities assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or other related business major required.
  • Minimum 2 years payroll, human resources or finance-related experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience in providing quality customer service required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of NYS Department of Labor laws and Federal/State payroll tax laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with others of all levels.
  • Display high degree of professionalism, strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
