About the Role

The Counselor will provide individual therapy, crisis intervention, and group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students at the Yeshiva University Counseling Center. The role includes participation in outreach programs, staff meetings, and workshops. This is a one-year postdoctoral position offering supervision towards licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical services including individual psychotherapy, group therapy, referrals, and crisis intervention
  • Provide consultation services to faculty and staff as needed
  • Assist with outreach programs to students on campus
  • Maintain an assigned caseload of patients
  • Receive at least one hour a week of individual and one hour a week of group supervision toward licensure
  • Maintain clinical records in compliance with State and Federal regulatory agency requirements and program policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Pre-doctoral internship completed before start date
  • Completed all coursework towards degree in counseling or clinical psychology
  • Applicants working on the completion of a doctoral dissertation will be considered
  • Prior experience working in college counseling centers preferred
  • Interest and experience in an area of specialty, such as eating disorders, substance abuse, women’s issues, or trauma preferred
  • Interest in positive psychology
  • Interest in designing and implementing programs on campus

Skills

  • Skills necessary to complete intakes
  • Skills to create treatment plans
  • Skills to implement short-term psychotherapy and group therapy with undergraduate and graduate students
  • Skills to complete a suicide assessment
  • Skills to be involved in crisis intervention
  • Proficiency in the treatment model used
  • Familiarity with more than one treatment modality, such as CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy preferred
