About the Role

This course focuses on preparing individuals to teach visual arts at the Intermediate/Senior level, covering the Ontario visual arts curriculum, lesson design, and instructional approaches for secondary school studio work and art criticism. It also explores teaching elements and principles of design, creative application, media, alternative media, and technology for both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art.

Responsibilities

Prepare, organize, and teach this graduate course.
Be available to students seeking assistance between classes.
Evaluate and provide students with feedback on their work.
Attend a pre-course planning/preparation meeting with the course instructional team.
Attend MT All-Instructor Meetings (AIM).
Submit course syllabus as requested by the department.

Requirements

Possess a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrate currency and mastery in the course subject matter.
Demonstrate excellence in teaching, including online teaching as relevant.
Demonstrate evidence of knowledge and practice of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Demonstrate excellence in teaching and leading teachers/teacher-candidates' professional learning.
An Ontario Teaching certificate is an asset.

Salary/Compensations

Minimum stipend of $9972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course, effective September 1, 2026, and January 1, 2027. Salary may be prorated based on appointment percentage.
