About the Role

This course focuses on preparing individuals to become visual arts teachers in the intermediate grades, integrating theory, practice, and studio work to explore contemporary art, pedagogy, lesson planning, and Ministry guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, organize, and teach the graduate course.
  • Be available to students for assistance between classes.
  • Evaluate student work and provide feedback.
  • Attend a pre-course planning/preparation meeting with the instructional team.
  • Attend MT All-Instructor Meetings (AIM).
  • Submit course syllabus as requested by the department.

Requirements

  • Possess a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrate currency and mastery in the course subject matter.
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching, including online teaching as relevant.
  • Demonstrate evidence of knowledge and practice of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching and leading teachers/teacher-candidates' professional learning.
  • An Ontario Teaching certificate is an asset.

Salary/Compensations

  • Minimum stipend of $9972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course as of September 1, 2026.
  • Minimum stipend of $9972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course as of January 1, 2027.
  • Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage.

  • This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.
  • Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
