About the Role
Nationwide's Legal team is seeking a Senior Paralegal to handle complex, high-value cases, including New York Labor Law, Products Liability, Construction Defect, and more. This role involves managing cases from start to finish, including administrative and paralegal tasks, discovery, expert retention, and trial preparation in a mostly paperless office environment.
Responsibilities
- Provides broad-based legal support services to attorneys and counsel.
- Conducts legal research, analyzes and compiles data from multiple sources.
- Researches statutes, regulations and court decisions.
- Prepares summaries and recommends resolutions to legal questions.
- Drafts correspondence, contracts, patent applications, resolutions and other legal documents.
- Drafts moderately complex depositions, outlines/questions, motions, pleadings, subpoenas, orders and briefs.
- Analyzes and evaluates records and data for discovery.
- Drafts recommendations and correspondence to clients, claims attorneys and customers.
- May develop and maintain information databases.
- Builds new processes for data maintenance, storage and retrieval.
- May conduct and evaluate open and closed paralegal file audits and advise attorneys and management.
- Supports litigation by collecting information for interrogatories and/or regulatory requests.
- Responds to requests for documentation.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience handling New York Labor Law; Products Liability; Construction Defect; Complex Property Damage; Premises Liability; Motor Vehicle; L4 Claims Team cases; catastrophic injuries; Environmental and Toxic Tort Claims; CL Trucking; Federal Court Actions; and Liquor Liability/Dram Shop claims.
- Experience handling files from start to finish.
- Proficient using Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Ability to utilize case management software effectively.
- Proactive file handling and good communication skills are a must.
- Possess the communication skills, analytical ability and paralegal skills needed to provide outstanding service, advice and counsel.
- Ability to set work priorities that conform with established standards.
- Capacity to coordinate projects with minimal direction.
- Ability to give presentations in formal and informal settings.
- Ability to build and maintain filing systems.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Ability to operate a computer and related legal and business software and databases.

Salary/Compensations
- $62,500.00-$115,500.00 (National Range)
- $62,500.00 - $93,500.00 (Expected Starting Range)
