About the Role
As a Community Technician at BRC, you will be a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, supporting them through moments of crisis, uncertainty, or transition. This hands-on, frontline role is ideal for those interested in social work, human services, public health, or emergency response.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds
- Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques
- Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally
- Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security
- Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided)
- Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes)
- Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance
- Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required
- Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries
- Willingness to obtain required certifications
- Experience with homelessness, mental health, or substance use populations (Preferred)
- Security Guard license, Food Handler Certificate, or similar certifications (Preferred)
- Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply (Preferred)
