About the Role
The Medical Assistant supports dermatology physicians by delivering high-quality patient care, including patient rooming, updating medical histories, documenting visit details, and assisting with various dermatological procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage an average patient volume of up to 40 patients daily.
- Document patient histories, including HPI, medical, surgical, and family history, medications, and allergies.
- Prepare and assist with dermatological and cosmetic procedures, including ED&Cs, biopsies, ILK, I&D, Botox, laser treatments, excisions, and other surgical interventions.
- Administer local anesthesia and remove sutures as directed.
- Ensure strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control practices.
- Perform scribing responsibilities, including inputting templates and chart notes.
- Process prescription refills and manage prior authorizations.
- Log pathology samples and coordinate with appropriate laboratories.
- Operate specialized equipment such as Narrowband UVB and photodynamic therapy units.
- Maintain and replenish liquid nitrogen containers.
- Clean and stock examination rooms and supply areas.
- Ensure adherence to organizational infection control protocols.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 0–3 years of medical assistant experience, preferably in dermatology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate patient records.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Proactive, dependable, and detail-oriented individual with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic healthcare environment.
