About the Role

Block-by-Block California employs Ambassadors to enhance public spaces, making them friendlier, safer, and cleaner. This role is ideal for outgoing individuals who enjoy working outdoors and interacting with new people, including retirees, veterans, and recent high school graduates.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned zones on foot or bike to deter unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information and assistance to pedestrians and visitors with a positive, professional demeanor.
• Observe and report unwanted behaviors or criminal activity to authorities, providing accurate descriptions.
• Address low-level quality of life violations courteously and firmly.
• Engage pedestrians with friendly greetings to offer directions and city information.
• Visit zone businesses to share information and collect contact details.
• Complete daily reports of tasks, demonstrating proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously for an eight-hour shift, including breaks and lunch.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English for report completion.
