About the Role

The Carpenter 3 will perform complex carpentry tasks in concrete or finish carpentry on various construction projects. This role may involve supervising a team and requires proficiency with a variety of tools and equipment. All activities support JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex carpentry tasks in concrete or finish carpentry.
• Supervise a team within the carpenter scope of work.
• Utilize a variety of tools and specialized equipment.
• Work with concrete tools and carpentry hand tools.
• Apply principles of layout and construction math.
• Set forms for concrete, including foundations, SOG, and bulkheads.
• Place concrete using various methods.
• Perform basic finishing of concrete.
• Clean and maintain concrete and forming tools.
• Frame and form structures.
• Install in-wall and roof blocking and general carpentry.
• Install safety railings, floor openings, and general safety items.
• Erect temporary partitions and doors.
• Assist in the installation of doors, frames, and hardware.
• Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and OSHA standards.
• Adhere to JE Dunn safety standards.
• Own all necessary hand tools and pouches.
• Show up and be ready to work when scheduled.
• Communicate absence or tardiness with supervisor as early as possible.
• Show respect for yourself and others.
• Work safely.
• Maintain a can-do attitude.
• Place rebar according to plans and specs.
• Perform layout activities specific to the task.
• Apply advanced understanding of formwork systems and installation.
• Install PT accessories, cables, chairs, reinforcing, blocking, etc.
• Perform advanced placement and finishing of concrete flatwork.
• Identify and understand construction details related to concrete carpentry.
• Perform quality installation of casework and countertops.
• Perform quality installation of all types of running trim and wood paneling.
• Perform quality installation of doors, hardware, and accessories.
• Identify, understand, and apply construction details related to finish carpentry.
• Lead by example, providing proper guidance and instruction to the team.
• Teach and train the team to perform the scope of work to the highest quality standard.
• Demonstrate expertise in concrete and/or finished carpentry.
• Read and understand project plans within the applicable scope of work.
• Complete JE Dunn reports and pre-task planning.
• Forecast materials for specific tasks.
• Coordinate and implement safety procedures for tasks.
• Coordinate with foreman on upcoming work and durations.

Requirements

• Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
• Effective communication skills, verbal and written.
• Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.
• Knowledge of all carpentry hand tools, use and own all required hand tools and pouches.
• Knowledge of all concrete tools and how they work.
• Basic understanding of principles of layout and construction math.
• Knowledge of setting forms for concrete (Foundations / SOG / Bulkheads).
• Ability to complete assigned duties with minimal guidance.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be comfortable working at projected heights, narrow workspaces, and various depths (trenches).
• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, carrying, swinging, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling, and balancing.
• Occasional sitting and viewing computer screen.
