About the Role

The Activity Specialist will facilitate workshops for children in grades K-8, ensuring their safety and engagement. The program offers academic support, artistic, athletic, cultural enrichment, therapeutic services, and family involvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with groups of 15-20 students.
  • Facilitate sessions in dance, music, leadership, sports, ESL, visual arts, and computer.
  • Integrate young people’s life experiences and thematic curriculum.
  • Create an environment of active and genuine learning using diverse teaching strategies.
  • Incorporate career awareness activities, field trips, and guest speakers into projects.
  • Engage in community outreach and involvement.
  • Write, revise, and implement lesson plans using the DYCD framework for director approval.
  • Monitor and report on students’ progress throughout the activity term.

Requirements

  • Previous experience teaching/facilitating workshops in one of the subject areas.
  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Attend planning, supervisor, and evaluation sessions.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to commit for the entire school year.
  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • Highly energetic, dynamic, and positive.
