About the Role

The Non-Secure Detention Shift Supervisor is responsible for supporting daily operations, overseeing staff and youth, serving as a role model, ensuring compliance with regulations, providing guidance, and identifying areas for program improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of staff including assigning work, scheduling shifts, and monitoring attendance.
  • Conducting supervision meetings.
  • Ensuring staff compliance with agency, OCFS, and state rules and regulations.
  • Assisting the Program Coordinator with day-to-day operations.
  • Developing meeting agendas.
  • Ensuring all logs are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring staff-to-youth ratios are met.
  • Identifying areas of program improvement.
  • Conducting training as needed.
  • Assisting with performance evaluations and corrective counseling.
  • Planning and carrying out activities to stimulate youth development.
  • Acting as a liaison between the facility and on-call Director during emergencies.
  • Ensuring the safety of staff, youth, and facility security.
  • Ensuring end-of-shift communication for continuity of care.
  • Ensuring fire drills are completed and protocols are followed.
  • Assisting with the completion of admission packets.
  • Admitting and orienting new youth to the program.
  • Overseeing youth supervision, including debriefing after crises.
  • Coordinating appointments for youth.
  • Ensuring daily activities, including meal preparation, are completed.
  • Serving as a backup for staff and providing direct care to youth as needed.
  • Contacting Justice Center, County, and family within 24 hours of a critical incident.
  • Conducting post-crisis de-briefs as needed.
  • Determining appropriate supervision plans for youth safety.
  • Adhering to required documentation standards.
  • Assisting in the arrangement and supervision of family contact and visitation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalency diploma required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Travel is required.
  • TCI, First Aid/CPR certifications required.
  • Successful completion and training to administer medication under direction.
  • Ability to work with an economically and culturally diverse population.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (rotating schedule).

Experience Level

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a residential detention facility or short-term residential facility with youth is required.
  • More than 1 year of aforementioned experience is preferred.

Education Level

  • Associate degree is preferred.

Salary/Compensations

  • $24.50 - $26.00 Hourly

  • ONE HOUR OF PAID TRAVEL TIME for each workday
  • MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT for eligible miles beyond the normal commute
  • A $500 MONTHLY TRAVEL STIPEND during the transition period
