About the Role
AIS is seeking a talented, collaborative Designer to join our New York City team and play a key role in supporting some of the region's most exciting workplace projects. You'll work closely with dealers, architects, designers, and end users to transform ideas into functional, beautiful workplace solutions. From initial concepts through final specifications, you'll develop furniture layouts, renderings, presentations, and detailed specifications that balance creativity, functionality, and precision. You'll participate in client meetings, contribute design expertise throughout the sales process, and help deliver exceptional customer experience.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, industrial design, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience designing commercial workplace environments for a contract furniture manufacturer, dealership, or architecture and design (A&D) firm.
- Proficiency in CET Designer and AutoCAD.
- Ability to develop accurate furniture plans, specifications, installation drawings, and presentation materials.
- Demonstrated experience creating workplace solutions through space planning, furniture specification, finish selection, renderings, and client presentations.
- Strong understanding of contract furniture systems, ancillary products, workplace planning principles, and the design process from concept through installation.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, and project requirements.
- Balance design intent, budget, schedule, and functionality.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
- Deliver high-quality work consistently.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Confidence to collaborate with sales professionals, dealers, architects, designers, project managers, and end users.
- Collaborative approach and ability to work independently while contributing to a team-first culture.
- Passion for thoughtful design, continuous learning, and creating exceptional client experiences.
- Willingness to travel occasionally throughout New York and New Jersey for client meetings, project support, training, and industry events.
