About the Role
Perform tasks involving driving to various excavation sites to assure compliance with New York State Code Rule 753 regarding the protection of underground facilities.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive to various excavation locations.
- Assure compliance with all regulations of the New York State Code Rule 753 regarding the protection of underground facilities.
- Comply with good safety practices at excavation sites.
- Promote safe excavation practices via conversation with excavators.
- Communicate throughout the day with Field Supervisor, Dispatcher(s), Area Division Supervisors and Contractors as needed.
- Enter data of all excavation site visits on electronic device provided.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Be responsible for basic upkeep (e.g., cleanliness) if driving a Company vehicle.
- Travel outside assigned territory when needed.
Requirements
- Must have a valid New York State (NYS) driver's license.
- Must clear Dept. of Motor Vehicle (DMV) and Background Check.
- Must pass a Pre-Employment & Random Drug and Alcohol testing (D&AT).
- This position is safety-sensitive and subject to U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing regulations.
- As a condition of employment, employees must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and remain eligible for random testing.
- Marijuana use is prohibited for this position under federal DOT regulations, regardless of New York State or any other state law.
- A positive test for marijuana will result in removal from safety-sensitive duties and may result in termination of employment.

- The employee regularly works near and inside excavation areas and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to suggest safe excavating practices and pass out literature pertaining to Code Rule 753.
- The employee frequently is required to use hands to operate or feel objects, tools, or controls, is required to stand, walk, climb, and balance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
