About the Role
FISA is seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator to support DB2 v12 or higher on an IBM z/OS platform. This role involves collaborating with application development teams on installations, migrations, data fixes, database recovery, and tuning procedures for critical systems like PMS, PPMS, and FMS.
Responsibilities
- Ensure efficient installation, configuration, and tuning of DB2 databases.
- Author and validate procedures for all database processes.
- Identify potential issues and deliver modifications/updates for DB2 programs.
- Communicate migration elements and instructions to Tech Support for production deployment.
- Assist Systems areas with tool upgrades and participate in Disaster Recovery drills.
- Define and execute database recovery functions and standard database tuning procedures (e.g., runstats, reorgs).
- Monitor the health of key database operations, including backup/recovery, logging, and system response times.
- Open and manage tickets with IBM to resolution.
- Work with application development teams to install and migrate software releases and support data fixes.
- Perform DB2 DB troubleshooting for online and batch programs during various testing phases and production.
- Design and execute technical tests to ensure vendor and FISA software deliveries meet business and technical requirements according to FISA standards.
- Perform all system administration activities for the IBM InfoSphere Data Replication product, ensuring high availability.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering.
- Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
