About the Role

This senior role within the Risk Function supports the Chief Risk Officer in developing, embedding, and overseeing the enterprise-wide Risk Management Framework for Everest Managing Agency Limited, including Lloyd’s Syndicate 2786 and related entities. A key focus is fostering a strong risk culture, ensuring risks are identified, understood, escalated, and managed in line with the firm's risk appetite and strategic objectives. The role acts as a second-line partner, providing value through reviews, challenge, and assurance to support sustainable and compliant growth within the Lloyd's market.

Responsibilities

  • Support the CRO in leading the development, implementation, and embedding of the Risk Management Framework.
  • Promote a strong and proactive risk culture through stakeholder engagement, challenge, and business partnering.
  • Provide risk oversight, advice, and constructive challenge to senior management and first-line teams.
  • Contribute to the evolution of a forward-looking, insight-led Risk Function.
  • Lead the annual Lloyd’s syndicate ORSA process end-to-end.
  • Ensure the ORSA provides a clear, coherent, and forward-looking view of the firm’s risk profile and solvency position.
  • Support embedding of ORSA as a meaningful business and decision-making tool.
  • Lead the development and review of forward-looking assessment and stress and scenario testing.
  • Support the annual and ad-hoc Lloyd’s Internal Model validation process from a second-line perspective.
  • Own the validation plan, including scoping, stakeholder coordination, delivery tracking, governance reporting, and action closure.
  • Provide effective oversight and challenge across modelling, assumptions, limitations, and outputs.
  • Support the CRO in maintaining robust Internal Model governance.
  • Support the preparation of the validation report.
  • Lead the enhancement and embedding of the RCSA framework across the business.
  • Drive consistency, quality, and usability of RCSA outputs for risk oversight and decision-making.
  • Oversee and enhance the risk event framework for timely identification, escalation, assessment, and reporting.
  • Analyse risk events, near misses, and control weaknesses to identify underlying themes and systemic risks.
  • Ensure material risk events are escalated appropriately to senior management, committees, and the Board.
  • Identify and lead targeted deep dive reviews across operational, underwriting, regulatory, and emerging risks.
  • Use MI (risk events, RCSA, KRIs, audit findings, regulatory developments) to prioritise areas of focus.
  • Deliver clear, insight-driven outputs that provide practical recommendations and add value to the business.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in risk management within the insurance sector, notably within the Lloyd’s / London Market.
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Risk Management frameworks, ORSA, risk appetite, risk and control self-assessment, risk event management, and governance reporting.
  • Experience of Internal Model governance, validation processes, capital model oversight, or Solvency UK / Lloyd’s regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders and provide constructive challenge across underwriting, actuarial, capital, operations, finance, claims, and exposure management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional risk processes, thematic reviews, deep dives, or risk assurance activity.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, underwriting risk, control environments, and second-line oversight responsibilities.

Skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to build credibility across senior management and first-line business functions.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality outputs in a dynamic environment.
