About the Role

Provide supervision and direction on manufacturing inspection and test functions. Coordinate multiple test functions within the Inspection Department and interact with various departments to support scheduling, projects, improvement objectives, and product quality reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor inspections in progress and verify correct inspection methods.
  • Assign work to inspectors based on training and job knowledge.
  • Initiate cross-training and initial training programs for manufacturing inspection.
  • Review daily time charges, attendance, and schedule overtime.
  • Develop work schedules that respond to priorities for each inspection location and discipline.
  • Review shop loading reports and address obstacles, hold points, or conflicts.
  • Resolve procedure conflicts, employee conflicts, and inspection method conflicts.
  • Develop inspection methods, including designing tools, purchasing equipment, and preparing Appropriation Requests.
  • Maintain a continuous process improvement program with weekly training sessions.
  • Establish effective communication and feedback lines with inspectors, manufacturing personnel, engineers, supervision, and management.
  • Develop and maintain employee development and participation programs.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of conditions adversely affecting quality.
  • Periodically review documentation.
  • Make recommendations to management on improvements, equipment, and manpower requirements.
  • Maintain calibration activity, ensuring correct procedures and results.
  • Monitor NDE work loading, provide scheduling and workload priorities, and review performance and procedure adherence.
  • Supervise final inspection department review schedules and priorities.
  • Interact with customers and contract administrators.
  • Monitor performance and work activity for support and adherence to procedure and job requirements.
  • Evaluate inspection results.
  • Analyze root cause of product and process deficiencies.
  • Maintain work schedules, vacation time, and back shift coverage.
  • Provide training on inspection applications and verification of geometric tolerances.
  • Provide quotations on inspection hours for new jobs.
  • Provide responses to customer concerns and findings.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years’ experience in Manufacturing Quality Control.
  • Associates Degree or High School diploma with ten (10) years inspection supervisory experience.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Position may require exposure to export-controlled information and subject to additional security screening.
