About the Role

Provides oversight and support for workflow and functions in Patient Access, assuming an expanded role with increased responsibility. Participates in policy and procedure development and process improvement, working closely with leadership to ensure efficient operations and quality in daily activities. May partner with leadership on team selection, orientation, and performance feedback, while ensuring customer needs and operational goals are met.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates operational, technical, and clerical support services to improve department processes and workflow.
  • Plans and organizes workflows, prioritizing customer needs.
  • May lead a small team and serve as a mentor.
  • Creates and maintains procedural standards and records.
  • Develops and maintains educational programs for team members, including new employee orientation.
  • Utilizes multiple system applications for data collection and management.
  • Incorporates knowledge of policies, practices, and processes to ensure quality, confidentiality, and safety.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of departmental processes and procedures, with the ability to acquire new knowledge.
  • Collaborates on performance improvement activities based on program efficiency and patient experience outcomes.
  • Identifies opportunities, develops solutions, and leads the team through resolution.
  • Employs effective and respectful communication, fostering mutual confidence and trust.

  • Coordinates and prioritizes patient flow to ensure smooth workload distribution.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures for patient information, registration, financial screening, and patient placement.
  • Leads and coordinates the onsite orientation of new colleagues.
  • Participates in the ongoing education of colleagues.
  • Makes recommendations to management regarding performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent / GED
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience with competency in patient access, pre-service, and/or registration experience.
  • Ability to obtain a national certification in HFMA CRCR and/or NAHAM CHAA within one (1) year of hire.

Skills
