About the Role
The Senior Director of Design Management leads a team of Design Managers and oversees design development for all NTT Global Data Centres-APAC projects, from initiation through construction administration. This involves coordinating internal staff and external consultants.
Responsibilities
- Assigns projects and tasks to Design Managers, monitors progress, and ensures alignment with project budgets and schedules.
- Leads the design consultant selection process.
- Oversees the preparation and execution of Architectural and Engineering Consultant Agreements.
- Innovates and leads value engineering and design rationalization assessments, incorporating new technologies for sustainability and reduced construction costs.
- Collaborates with Product Team, Sales/Sales Engineering, and Operations to define product, options, and timelines.
- Supports technical pre-sales consulting, client negotiation, and technical assessments.
- Supports Construction and Procurement leadership in assessing and executing various Procurement models.
- Communicates project status to internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepares monthly project reports on budget, schedule, and scope.
- Ensures compliance with NTT GDC standards and industry best practices.
- Assists in the preparation and review of budgets and forecasts for design and construction expenditures.
- Develops and maintains vendor relationships to provide cost-effective services.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in large scale APAC wide critical facilities (Data Center) design and technical engineering.
- Excellent understanding of data center complexity and demonstrable experience in design and delivery of large-scale data center facilities across multiple countries.
- Recognized industry leader with strong executive presence and a solid track record of strategic accomplishments in rapidly growing companies.
- Multinational leadership experience and willingness to explore innovative cost-reduction methods.
- Full understanding of safety, time, cost, and quality priorities with an emphasis on budget delivery.
- Commercially astute with strong business acumen.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate at all levels.
- Proven track record of setting up and managing cross-cultural and cross-functional teams.
- Balances innovative thinking and creative mindset with a strong appreciation of technical facilities and systems engineering.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills; systematic thinker.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong sense of urgency.
- Driven to influence and help shape the strategy and direction of the company.
