About the Role
Cloudflare's Security Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team is seeking passionate interns to help make the Internet more secure. You will work with experienced security professionals on initiatives to improve Cloudflare's security posture, gaining experience in defending systems at a massive scale.
Responsibilities
- Execute a specialized project that directly improves Cloudflare’s security posture.
- Improve the maturity of Cloudflare’s Security Compliance program.
- Evaluate the efficacy of Cloudflare security controls.
- Develop and implement automated solutions to improve GRC processes and operations.
- Support the security risk register by triaging and assessing potential risks, proposing mitigation strategies, and presenting key security insights to leadership.
- Support Cloudflare’s security data center audits and assessments.
- Work cross-functionally with Legal, People, Engineering, and Finance teams.
- Work closely with a mentor for hands-on guidance.
- Connect and learn from executives and leadership.
- Present your security project to the company.
- Write for the Cloudflare blog and be featured on Cloudflare.tv sessions.
Requirements
- Ability to commit to a minimum 12 week summer internship.
- In the office 3-5 days a week in the location of the internship.
- Applicants who progress to the offer stage may be asked to attend an in-person interview.
- Offer of employment may be conditioned on authorization to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export laws without sponsorship for an export license.
Skills
- Working knowledge of industry-standard frameworks such as NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, or SOC 2 principles.
- Understanding of risk management methodologies.
- Ability to write basic Python scripts to automate repetitive tasks.
- Workflow Logic & Orchestration experience.
- Understanding how to instruct AI models effectively and leverage them.
- Ability to build and deploy a full application.
- Technical writing/documenting.
- Observability and metrics experience.
- Prompt engineering or experience using LLM coding.
- Familiarity and previous use of Cloudflare products: Workers, Workers AI, R2, D1.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and drive to learn and adapt new technologies.
- Curiosity, empathy and ability to get things done.
- Demonstrated passion for security & software development (personal projects, open-source contributions, or experience).
- Experience building something with Cloudflare for Students.
