About the Role
The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for oversight of the investigation, analysis, and examination of building performance related to structural elements, building envelope, and site conditions. This role involves reviewing staff work, managing technical and administrative aspects of projects, and ensuring adherence to client specifications and company standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage technical and administrative aspects of new façade/roofing service opportunities from proposal preparation to final acceptance by client; invoicing and accounts receivable.
- Review design/analysis specifications and calculations for projects for accuracy and provide technical support.
- Design schematic layouts of structural framing using applied software and oversee documentation production.
- Review assessment information gathered during site investigations, including data from scaffold drops, fire escapes, and balcony evaluations.
- Supervise contractors and staff to ensure adherence to contract documents and prepare summary documentation.
- Review and comment on technical reports for clarity, structure, and grammar.
- Provide feedback to direct reports through performance evaluations, training, development, and improvement plans.
- Mentor new team members regarding work processes, company policies, safety, time reporting, and general office rules.
- Lead building envelope testing and structural framing condition evaluations to determine façade, roof, and structural characteristics/deficiencies.
- Create and maintain project schedules, change orders, and budgets, ensuring adequate staffing and adherence to deadlines.
- Oversee the preparation of work plans, project specifications, bidding documents, cost estimates, and related submissions for client presentation and review.
- Manage small projects and assist with all aspects of project administration on larger assignments.
- Identify new work opportunities and inform the Regional Director of potential projects.
- Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy.
- Provide coordination of project designs with other disciplines.
- Manage staff responsible for full cycle façade inspections.
- Develop and implement project scope and proposals in accordance with company and client requirements.
- Analyze project scope, client RFPs, and firm proposals with the Director.
- Communicate project-specific information, deliverables, scope, cost, and schedule to staff and upper management.
- Coordinate resources (staff) amongst different practice groups.
- Perform QA/QC review of all project-related deliverables before submission to the client or reviewing agency.
- Ensure registrations are maintained by attending necessary continuing education courses.
- Manage project budgets and invoicing, processing invoices on time and developing project budgets.
- Contribute to overall performance, growth, and business development by working on cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 8-10 years of experience in Building Envelope assessment and/or design for existing building projects.
- Solid experience with project and staff management, including skill development, processes, compliance, and team building with engineering staff and other design/construction professionals.
- Registered Design Professional (PE or RA).
- NYC QEWI designation.
- NYC QRWI designation.
- Understanding of building codes applicable to special inspections, connection detailing, lateral system determination, foundation work, and underpinning.
- Ability to delegate project-specific tasks to direct reports.
- Working knowledge of structural framing, building envelope, codes, and zoning as they apply to egress, fireproofing, energy, waterproofing, occupancy, and FAR.
- Ability to provide directions and work independently.
- The position is based in Manhattan, NY and will involve moderate travel.
- Ability to navigate urban, rural, and industrial sites.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
