About the Role
Oversee and manage all aspects of the cashier department, including profitability, guest assistance, and driving business/sales. Provide an exceptional shopping experience, act as a subject matter expert, and maintain a hospitality-driven approach with positive energy.
Responsibilities
- Protect company assets.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures for all transactions.
- Maintain possession of the register key and authorize transactions.
- Take responsibility for all transactions requiring key holder involvement.
- Observe override transactions for accuracy and proper procedure.
- Communicate all issues to store management promptly.
- Identify and report associate discrepancies to management immediately.
- Train and supervise front-end associates on policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain a professional environment for customers and associates.
- Create schedules ensuring proper front-end coverage and daily breaks.
- Maintain a neat, clean, organized, and safe front-end area.
- Handle returns and credits daily according to company procedures.
- Perform duties assigned by the Manager on Duty.
- Drive guest engagement programs to exceed the Ultimate Gourmet Experience.
- Exhibit professionalism in guest relations and perform service recovery.
- Direct and supervise front-end and assigned department activities.
- Monitor guest traffic and service levels.
- Coordinate and implement front-end and service programs.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of the Front End.
- Monitor inventory and order Front End supplies.
- Assist with interviewing and hiring of department/store associates.
- Monitor overall department performance and communicate employment status changes or corrective actions to management.
- Drive results through motivation, team building, and staff follow-up.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a front-end/cashier department in a grocery store environment.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to perform physical requirements including standing, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, lifting, pushing, and pulling items up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a temperature-controlled environment.
- Ability to show initiative, work with limited supervision, and be self-motivated.
- Ability to hire, train, inspire, and develop a team.
- Must be a team builder and brand ambassador.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient computer knowledge and skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
